A & L Royal Academy will travel to Regina for the annual Terry Fox Run. Terry Fox is one of Canada’s most famous and respected citizens. Terry Fox attempted to run across Canada with a prosthetic leg that he lost due to cancer. He was trying to raise awareness and funding for research into cancer in Canada and throughout the world. Each year an honorary 5 km and 10km run is held in his name to continue to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Students should be prepared to walk or run 5 km or 10 km rain or shine. We will have lunch and shopping in Regina after the run before returning to Moose Jaw in the afternoon. It is held at the T.C. Douglas Building. We leave Moose Jaw at 8:30 am and return about 1:00 pm.

Today will be a fun day at A & L Royal Academy. Staff and students will go to Prairie Storm Paintball. This is located 5 minutes outside of Moose Jaw. If you have never went paintballing then you will have lots of fun shooting each other with balls of paint. Students should dress for the weather. It is recommended students wear older clothing, good running shoes, have a bottle of water, and be prepared for lots of running outdoors. This event will be rescheduled due to poor weather. Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in Canada. There will be no school this day. Classes will resume Tuesday morning. A & L Royal Academy will host and prepare a traditional Canadian Thanksgiving meal (with the students’ cooperation) on Thursday October 10, in the afternoon before the holiday. A & L Royal Academy is also closed on Friday October 11 for teacher’s professional development.

A & L Royal Academy staff and students will attend the Moose Jaw Warriors hockey game. They play the Calgary hitmen. Mosaic Place is a 1- minute walk from A & L Royal Academy. The game starts at 7:00 pm. Go Warriors go!

Halloween is not a national holiday. It is an observance that many Canadians and other people from many other countries enjoy. We will hold our annual Halloween party in the afternoon on Friday November 1. This will be a fun and exciting way to finish our week of studies.

Remembrance Day is a national holiday in most provinces of Canada. Our school will be closed this day. We will hold a Remembrance Day ceremony inside our school on Friday 8. Students wishing to attend a ceremony within the community on Monday should contact the school office and we will make arrangements for you to attend.
