A & L ROYAL EDUCATION HIGH SCHOOL ADMISSION POLICY

PROCEDURES FOR APPLICANTS

A & L Royal Education High School does not discriminate against any race, gender, or religion when considering students for admission. Subject to available space, A & L Royal Education High School welcomes all applicants who meet the academic and character requirements of the school and who will cheerfully endeavour to live according to its academic, and cultural atmosphere. Admission to the school is a privilege and not a right. This privilege may be withheld or withdrawn by the school at its discretion in harmony with its mission, function, and procedures.

Parents are expected to maintain a positive attitude in addition to co-operating with and supporting A & L Royal Education High School staff and school policy. When a student enrols at A & L Royal Academy, the parents and student accept its standards, regulations, and financial obligations to the school.

No student dismissed from another school because of drug, alcohol, or other abuse will be admitted to A & L Royal Education High School. The school reserves the right to modify or add policies, rules, or regulations in order to ensure the safe and appropriate operation of the school. Any changes will be in writing and communicated to all.

A & L Royal Academy has limited ability to accommodate special education needs. These requests are considered on an individual basis.

A & L ROYAL HIGH SCHOOL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. For registration, report card marks must be acceptable to A & L Royal Education High School. This can be one or more of the following:
    a) A & L Royal Education English for High School Program
    b)Your middle school report card
    c)Your Senior High School Report Card
2. Report cards should be in English. If the report card is not in English it will need to be translated. A & L Royal Education High School can have it translated at the student’s expense.
3. Applicants are required to complete the Versant English Placement Test. This test consists of reading, writing, speaking and listening. This is an online test. Students must achieve a score of 40 on this assessment.
4. Students must also complete an online interview with the school principal or a school teacher. This interview will be conducted over the Internet using social media such as WeChat, Skype, or Messenger.
5. Students failing to meet the minimum score of 40 on the Versant English Placement Test must may be eligible to enroll in A & L Royal Education’s English for High School Program. Students need a minimum score of 28 to be considered.
6. Students may also submit scores from internationally recognized tests such as IELTS, TOEFEL, Cambridge, or the PET. These will be accepted as proof for the level of English proficiency.
7. Student’s need to get a letter of reference from a former teacher. This can be typed (not hand written) in your native language. We will translate the letter. This letter should testify to your study habits, dedication to learning, as well as your strengths and weaknesses as a student.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
Students must show proof of completion of middle school (grade 9).
There is no minimum age to start the high school program. However, all students must complete high school by 20 years of age.

CUSTODIAN ARRANGEMENTS
To satisfy the Government of Canada’s requirements for those who wish to study in Canada, a custodial arrangement is necessary for students who are under 18 years old. Please consult with your agent or the school to arrange for a legal custodian.

HEALTH CARE/INSURANCE
1. Health coverage is mandatory for all students.
2. All students must show proof of valid medical insurance before beginning their academic program. Students will valid study permits/visas can apply for the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health medical coverage. There is an approximate waiting period of 3 months before this becomes effective.
3. This and any waiting period needs to be covered by alternative health insurance. Please contact your agent or the school for more information on health insurance.
4. A & L Royal Education High School may purchase health insurance for the student on their behalf. The student needs to contact the school for this option.

Applicants must complete the following process to be considered for admission to A & L Royal Education High School.
1. An enrolment packet containing the school’s handbook and other information about the school and appropriate enrolment forms should be obtained from the school. This will be done through email.
2. The student must present the completed forms and records, including:
    a) the Registration Application form,
    b) and homestay/dormitory application form (if under 18)
3. Information from the Registration Application form, the placement test, and the interview will be reviewed by the principal to determine whether the student should be admitted.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1. Application:
     a) Download and complete the application forms.
     b) Email the completed forms and a copy of the first page of your passport to A & L Royal Education High School.
2. Step 2:
     a) A & L Royal Education High School will issue a conditional offer and invoice.
     b) The student pays the registration fee, and homestay/dormitory registration fees.
     c) A & L Royal Education High School issues admission letter.
3. Visa (Study Permit) Application:
     a) International students may need to apply for student visa or study permit with the nearest Canadian Consulate. Please consult with your agent or with the school for more information.
4. Prepare Documents:
     (a) Get a letter of reference from a former teacher. (This may be typed in your native language.)
5. Parent:
     (a) Parent (If the student is under 18 years old) or student (if over 18 years old) sign A & L Royal Education High School consent forms including,
6. Guardian/Custodian form, Media  Authorization Form, Field Trip Permission Form, and Code of Conduct.
Travel:
     (a) Buy air tickets and prepare your luggage to come to Canada.
     (b) Check the list of prohibited items in Canada.
     (c) Get familiar with the Canada Border Services Declaration Form.
     (d) Print your letter of Admission.
     (e) Give these two documents when entering customs at the airport.

The School must receive in the wire transfer details enough information to be able to identify the payment.

Credit Card Payments
Payments can also be made by credit card (we accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express). Please complete the Credit Card Authorization Form. Credit cards are charged an additional 1.5% administrative surcharge.
